I have a model year 2011 BF90DKLRT EFI Honda outboard motor on my pontoon boat and have had regular routine maintenence ( oil change w/filters, main fuel filter ) done on it but not a lot more. Where it is 11 years old, I would like have a major maintenece done to it, what should this all include? We average a little over 100 hours per year, motor currently has about 1150 hours on it. I would like to be proactive, not reactive, as I don't want to be without a boat when the time is right. The only issue that I have had with it, a couple of times that I shut the motor off, lifted the motor to remove lilly pads off the prop, put the motor back down and it was like it was dead ( battery full charge ), move the motor up and down a couple of times, then no problem ( had this happen three times this year ). I will also add, fresh water use only.
