Flushing instructiona

Does anyone know why the RF60 owners manual says not to run engine when flushing engine with a garden hose because it will damage the engine? It seems logical to run the engine while flushing with fresh water.

welcome to the forum one thing i learned was that the cold water closes the thermostat and does not allow water through the system causing the lower block to over heat.
