Honda 30hp remote set up
 

Hi all
Getting a 30hp outboard from my buddy but he doesn't have the cables(throttle/shift) nor the control box anymore. Its early 2000, runs perfect and is simple with no power tilt or trim. Want to repower my skiff.
Questions are:
1. Can I use Teleflex or another brand or do I have to use Honda cables? I know steering cable doesn't matter but getting conflicting advice when it comes to throttle and shift cables as well as the control box. Looked up the Honda cables and they were crazy expensive. Teleflex are one fourth price so hoping to go that route. Didn't know if Honda had special threads on the end that would only fit their outboards and control box.
2. Can I use a universal control box or do I have to use a Honda? Agan the Honda control box is $$$$$$.
The outboard is early 2000 and simple with no power tilt or trim.
