Default Honda BF250

Hi
have just purchased a new 250 motor.
The promise of great fuel economy is just not .happening.
Presently at cruising speed the boat is using around 1.2 to 1.3 litres per Km. I wad as informed when purchasing that it should get around 1.3 km per litre.
will changing the prop help.
The boat weight is around 3 tonne.

Congrats on the new engine

Fuel consumption influences to consider -
What prop pitch, diameter and number of blades?
wot rpm?
Cruise rpm at what cruise speed?

i am doing a twin repower in the near future, new bf250dxd on the short list of engine brand possibilities

what are you other impressions of the new engine
hole shot with the blast technology?
smooth.
sound at idle? , cruise?, wot? (Have read wide varying opinions for cruise, both sound level and type of operating sound)
cable or ist?
Engine’s hefty weight influence hull behaviors or performance?

Thanks so much for sharing experience intel

Default BF250 Cooling System

Hi Guys,
I recently purchased a used boat with a 2006 BF250 on it. When I placed ear muffs on it to test everything I noticed no telltale water stream (it wasn't peeing). I figured this was an easy fix and ordered the new water pump (complete) kit. When I dismantled the system I realized the old impeller was in really bad shape. After replacing the water pump I reinstalled everything. Sadly there was no improvement. Next I checked the thermostats. They were corroded and appeared in moderate shape. I did not water test them on the stove to see if they would open. In the interest of troubleshooting I removed them to see if I could get water pressure. Once everything was put back together I still have no pressure. I did hook the garden hose to the flush tube. The manual shows that when connected to this tube water should exit the propeller. I noticed the water on this unit was flowing back out of the intake filters. Could this be an indicator that something was installed incorrectly at the impeller / water pump? I cant find many drawings on the cooling system. I'm interested on how the water flows through the engine. Thanks in advance for any help!

Tim
