Honda BF80 - trim issue

Hi all,

Looking for some help.

A friend of mine has a 2016 Honda BF80 EFI 4 stroke. Its currently attached to a pallet before it get fitted to his rib but we've come across an issue with the tilt/trim function. The engine will tilt/trim all the way up from the down position, but it will not trim/tilt down.

The battery its being powered by has full charge. When you press the down button (on the throttle lever and/or button the side of the engine) it won't move down. The motor however does run. We have spoken with Honda service technician who says its a problem with the motor and he needs a new one at £600. But, surely if the motor is running when the down button is depressed, then its not going to be causing the problem....?
The hydraulic oil reservoir is full.

Any thoughts on this would be most welcome.

Cheers,

Simon

The valves to the cylinders need to be working. I would check the down cylinder. Do you understand a simple hydraulic system?

HI,
I would say i understand the principles of a hydraulic system: reservoir, ram, valves, seals, oil, pump, motor.
