I recently acquired a 2005 Metro with 4K miles from a friend who had not run it in three or four years. I would like to begin the process of reconditioning it before first start, but the battery is dead and I suspect I need power to activate the key switch unlock for the seat. Am I correct? Is there a way to open the seat with out power?

 

There is a detent for the key between the on and off positions. With the key in this position, push in on the key. They seat hatch will pop open.

Thank you so much, that worked! Now it is a matter of the next logical step.. the gas smelled like varnish so I bought a little device to siphon it out while I see if the battery takes a charge. My friend said they last ran three years ago.
