2007 CR-V Newbie!

Just picked up a new 2007 CR-V a few hours ago and have about 10 minutes driving time under my belt. [Grin!]

I have two questions I can't seem to find answers for in the Owner's Manual.

1. What is the D3 setting for on the automatic transmission?

2. It's a 4-Wheel Drive but I don't see any 4WD button on my dash like with the old Blazer. Does this mean 4WD kicks in by itself (by computer) when needed ... or haven't I looked close enough in the manual?

Sorry for the stupid questions. [8D]

RE: 2007 CR-V Newbie!

If you go to automobiles.honda.com/models/engineering_overview.asp? you can view your cr-v. the 4 wheel does not have a button, it's done automatically, if the front spins (no grip) the hydraulic system sends the power to the rear wheels.
the D3 is in the event you may be in snow or mud to allow more slippage so you don't dig a ditch in first gear with the engine at high rpm. D3 allows engine high rpm, and wheel slow turn.
And your cr-v has a grade seek gearing. Read up on the features, engineering, you've got a smart "Comfortable riding - Vehicle" CR-V

The D3 setting you see on the gear lever of your car engages first, second and third gear for a comfortable and smooth ride. Next time you cruise around the city, get this set on the D3 setting and experience the ease even on a busy, stop-and-go drive.

In Honda CR-V 2012 and newer models, there is no button for the four-wheel drive (4WD) as the car automatically turns it on and off. When the car senses either of the front wheels losing traction, it automatically engages four-wheel drive. Also, it turns off the 4WD as the car gets equal traction with all the wheels.

I own a 2007 CRV. The D3 button on the gear shifter is to put the transmission into third gear to prevent it from constantly shifting up and down when on certain terrains and at certain speeds. Up and down means between over drive and third gear. And AWD on the CRV is not the same as 4WD. The CRV uses intelligent all wheel drive. The vehicle effectively uses front wheel drive to save on gas. When it feels there is slipping then it will engage the all wheel drive system and all four wheels will receive power from the engine. VSA (vehicle stability assist) and Traction control (along with ABS) are part of the system.

My wife has an '07 that she loves. The car has been good to us. I'm sure you got a good one also.
