Default 2023-24 CR-V Hybrid Alignment problems

  1. Problem first started on 3/12/24 when rear tires were completely bald after approx.. 3,000 miles. Only noticed after returning from south Florida at 70mph in the rain (God was my co-pilot).
  2. 3/12/24 Tires were replaced and alignment done by Hughes Honda. Had 2 independent alignment checks on 3/20/24 and both showed vehicle was not aligned. Returned to Hughes Honda for yet another alignment.
  3. 3/21/24 had alignment performed at Raffield Tire, alignment showed it was not aligned form previous day alignment at Hughes Honda.
  1. Jason Foster (hunter Eng. Rep.) was at Hughes Honda on 3/21/24 and I showed him all my documentation and he proceed to try and align the vehicle. After nearly 3 hours and numerous alignment adjustments he said he thinks he has it (didn’t give me a warm and fuzzy feeling). Jason then said that the Hunter alignment equipment is not compatible with the wheel due to protrusions on the spokes of the wheel and this was a Honda problem. Jason then said the resolution may be spacers or alignment equipment which attaches to wheel and not the tire.
  2. On 4/17/24 I took the car to Walsh Honda and Mr. William Sawyer (Service Manager) was good enough to put my vehicle on alignment rack. He said he could not do an alignment with the present day Hunter alignment equipment because read-outs were jumping all over the place.. He used the older equipment which attaches to the wheel and was able to align the vehicle. He was grateful I had brought this problem to his attention.

I’m just hoping that someone comes up with a solution before someone is seriously injured or killed. My wife is afraid to drive the vehicle on the expressway.

This is our 2nd CRV and have been very happy with the vehicles except for above listed problems.

Complete history of alignments attached.

I see you hung this saga widely. It may be helpful if you stated what year/model CRV you have rather than citing Gen 6 units as a group. Unless of course you have evidence that your issue is widespread.

Also noted that your attachments indicate your shop(s) used specs from both Gen 5 and 6 in their attempts to align your unit. Additional lack of information that is necessary for understanding your issue is whether your unit is 2 or 4 wheel drive. 2WD is indicated on some of the printouts.

As far as safety concerns, I suggest you report that here:
Complaints can be filed through NHTSA.gov or by calling NHTSA's Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

That way folks who can address the issue may gain some knowledge of a prospective problem after they sift through the drama.

And lest I forget, since you posted in the welcome wagon section, welcome to the Honda forum.

Just Ducky,
Thanks for the reply.
My particular vehicle is a 2023 CR-V Sport Hybrid 2WD. The wheels on this vehicle and the 2024 CR-V Sport Hybrid (and maybe more) are identical.
According to the Hunter Rep. (alignment equipment co.) the problem is the alignment equipment is not compatible with the wheels.
If the alignment head is not exactly centered on the wheel then the machine gives false readings and the tech not knowing this aligns the vehicle which in most cases provide a vehicle that is not aligned. The printouts I attached earlier bear out this theory.
The issue has been reported to the NHTSA (no response), Honda Corporate (no response) and Honda District Manager (after Vehicle was aligned by Walsh Honda he said to drive it for 2,000 miles and come back - this does not address the problem). I have another meeting with Honda District Manager on 5/22/24.
Thank You,
Vkwagon
