Hello everyone!

Hey there. I think "addiction" is a bit strong of a word but hey, it's the internet. :p I have been in love with Honda's since at least 1995, when my parents bought me a used 1988 Accord DX sedan, 5 speed manual. OH HOW I MISS THAT CAR! *Parents made me sell it when it hit 175K, fearing it would "throw a rod at such high mileage." SMH.

Anyway, I then bought a 2003 Civic sedan but it was an automatic....given to my niece in exchange for my mother's 2002 Accord. *She was determined to give that car to my niece. Mine had more miles so I knew it was a good trade and yes, my niece totaled the Civic within 6 months. (I nearly cried but half expected it).

So the 2002 Accord is still running great, 179K and still getting 28 mpg city and 39 mph highway. It has some body rust but I am shopping for a body man to cut out and replace that panel with one from a rust free '98 that I bought out of a junkyard in Montana. I just wish she was a manual.

So that's my story.....hoping to learn new things here and keep my Accord on the road.

welcome to the forum your honda accord should go to about 300k or more so if you continue to take good care of it, it will go for a long time. remember to always use honda only fluid for the trans, nothing else will work, after market trans fluid will gum up the trans.

Thanks man. Well that is good news. I always let the Honda shop change the trans fluid. 300K? That does sound good!

Welcome in,I get my trans fluid changed at around 36K .

Honda_Addiction 09-03-2018 10:47 AM

Oh? Well I think that may be the right approach. I've kinda of decided to change every fluid every 3 years from now on. I'm up for new brake lines, new antisway bars, and a new timing belt next month also. Probably cheaper than a payment on a new car every month. :p
