I think I just bought a unicorn? 2000 Accord EX V6 w/18k miles

Good evening -

First time poster, excited that I found this forum. Greetings from Scottsdale, AZ! I have been putting feelers out there recently on picking up a cheap car for my business to do deliveries in and for me to commute back and forth from our retail store about five miles round trip per day. A customer mentioned that his friend had a 2000 Honda EX V6 for sale that was his mother's and it had low miles. I looked at the car a few days later and discovered it was garaged most of its life and had less than 18k miles on it. I had the car inspected at a trusted local shop to inspect underneath to make sure there were no major problems to be addressed, in particular, the timing belt and any rubber parts in the chassis that could have corroded over time. The only thing that needed to be done to the vehicle was an A/C charge (the compressor blows very strong) and all tires needed to be replaced (three of the four were original mfg 1999 tires). So I own a 17,800 mile, 18 year old car.

Does anyone have experience with lower mileage 6th gen Accords like this and are there particular things I should watch for? It was suggested that I start putting some miles on it and just see if there are leaks that develop instead of doing all the flushes on it up front. As I'm only going to be putting less than 60 miles per week on the car, this seems like a reasonable course of action to me.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

welcome to the forum be sure to use honda fluids for trans, p/s etc. drive the car and put some miles on and check fluids each week until you know all is good. enjoy your new ride. should be a good car.
