One way to check for a broken timing belt is to take off the oil fill cap on the top of the valve cover
Shine a light on the valves and crank the engine. Of course helps to have someone crank the engine for you while you look at the valves
If the valves do not move while cranking then timing belt is broken

Default Crank engine

Is there a right or wrong way to crank engine if its not starting? I wouldn't want to screw something else up

Take the top cover off and look at it. If it jumped it will still be working the cams just not at the right time.

Default Got it

The springs go up and down as the engine cranks but there's no sudden jumps

D4 is flashing and the torque converter clutch solenoid has a wire showing , it doesn't have the yellow plastic protecting it right at the end where it enters the connector

Flashing "D" is is an indication one of the tranny solenoid is faulty.
Once I tried just drain and fill of the tranny and that cleared the flashing "D"

It seems you have more than one issue with the vehicle.
Since you see the valves moving then may be then belt just slipped or jumped or stretched.
It may be time to take it to a garage to fix or if you have the time, the tools and the skills then you can fix it yourself
Good luck to you
