I live in the north and we get a lot of snow and ice so the roads are covered with sand and salt I have found this to wash under your car www.underwasher.com works good

i feel like i could make this with some pvc pipe and a coupler or just poke 5 holes in a garden hose.

I was thinking the same so I go to Lowes to buy the pipe, shut off, fitting, glue ,cleaner the total would have been about $18.00 and if you worked with pvc before if you glue the pipe wrong you throw it away, so for me it was worth just to buy it done.
