Oil leaking 97 honda accord SE
The other day I noticed a decent oil leak from under my car. I just took it to get a oil change and possibly see if they can pin point the leak.. Unfortunately they were unable to. He proceeded to tell me that I most likely have a crack in my block. But my car shows no signs. I have no smoke when she starts up, my oil does not look like chocolate milk nor am I losing coolant or have bubbles. And no over hearing. After some inspection from the guy he said the leak is coming from above my oil filter but he is unable to look up that high in my engine for me. I'm curious as to is there a seal or gasket of some sort in that area? He checked my oil pressure switch and it tested perfectly fine.. I'm stumped.. I can smell oil burning, I have no smoke thankfully. He said if in was to drive her consecutively could possibly lose about a quart of oil a hour... She seems to only leak when on and running and up to proper temp. Please help I need my Rhonda working...
Beginning of the year did a Lil change. I don't drive my car to often. But took it to get a oil change the other day told them I have a pretty gnarly leak I noticed they checked the filter , oil pressure switch , pan drain plug. All seem to be fine.. He noticed the leak coming from above the filter and dripping down. She only drops oil if she is running and has built up preassure
may have to clean area above the oil filter clean with brake cleaning aerosol spray and run the engine and check for leaks. if you're loosing about a quart of oil per hour, that is a good good leak. should be easy to find. add oil to full. do a fast idle and watch where it drips from. it should show at just idle speed. make sure you use good jacks and chock your wheels front and back.
Update... Took to a shop was my oil pressure switch. Had that replaced. Have not seen oil leaking since. But since my new switch has been put on my oil pressure light will start to flicker and come on after roughly driving her for about 15 to 20 minutes... I don't feel any change in the way she drives, no knocking noises or over heating. That light has never came on not once in the 2 1/2 years I have had my honda, even with a oil leak and bad switch. Before my new switch my oil pressure was tested and was said to be good with with my new oil filter and oil change. Should I try disconnecting the negative one my battery to reset my computer? And see if it continues or just immediately take her back to the shop.
