2001 Odyssey Trans problems
 

Hi,

I'm just looking for some advice on my 2001 Honda Odyssey. Bought it new in 2001. Engine is great, Transmission sucks. This vehicle has been maintained throughout its life by the Honda dealer. The THIRD transmission just went out on it, the vehicle has 122,000 miles on it. All THREE transmissions replaced were paid for by Honda. When the last transmission went out a few weeks ago I called the dealer to find out what it would cost for the repair, they stated $4000.00. I asked the service guy if it was normal for 3 transmissions to go in this little amount of time and milage, they stated no. While I feel the engine will go on for many more miles, I just don't want to take the chance on buying another transmission which will only give me another few years. Anybody have any suggestions as to why this vehicle eats transmissions and what I can do?

welcome to the forum. This will not be the answer you may be looking for but trying to anwer your question. See if the Honda Dealer will do a transmission change again for you or for even half and half. If not go to American Honda and get a case nbr. they may still come up with 25 %. or more.
after the van is fixed and running good, sell it. Get a nissan or a Kia Sodona. My sister has a Kia Sodona with 120k and no problems at all. Oil change and filters. Kia also has the 100k, 10 yr warranty.
Ody has had poor trans problems from 1999 to 2004. poor workmenship or materials.

Have te exact same problem, and honda is asking 4000, my trans been changed 30000 milles ago,. replaced 4 times. Honda 2000. Drives me crazy, and no money to fixed, I will call Better business bureau, or get an attorney

Did honda replace your last transmission and if so go to american Honda to get a case nbr to perhaps get assistance from them if you had it overhauled else where then get an attorney.

Just a quick question trying to find out why these transmissions fail so much,do you tow anything with your van? If so when you pull off from a stop do you take it out of overdrive?

My trans was broken at 107k, 127k, 160k and now at 193,000 milles.
The first honda fixed for free, second I have to pay, third they paid, and now want to charge close to $5000.00
They are crazy..How its possible after 30,000 milles was broken again?
I called honda in Torrance, and open a case, this was denied. Today I tow my van to another shop and I have to pay $1300.00
Vey disapointed..
We should get an attorney, call better bussiness bureau, or so something.

I called AAA to tow my was, because was impossible to drive.Always honda replaced my previous transmissions.
