AC not working and parasitic draw
Hey Guys,
I'm new to the forum having purchased my 2006 Odyssey in the early spring of this year as a surf wagon grocery getter.
I absolutely love the vehicle. It far outclasses the Dodge caravans I have owned in the past.
That being said I have run into a perplexing multifaceted problem.
The AC worked extremely well when I first purchased the vehicle. However, it declined over time until it didnt work at all.
Looking into the engine compartment I can see that the AC clutch is not engaging any longer. Nor does the idle raise when I push the AC on.
Now, the strange part 2 of the equation.
If I leave the car sitting for several days it will not start because of a parasitic battery draw.
OK, so I do a parasitic draw test on the electrical system by pulling 1 fuse at a time.
Sure enough, when I pull the AC Backup fuse the draw stops.
So...are these 2 problems related? Any ideas?
So I know I can pull the AC Backup fuse and not worry about a dead battery. But jeez, these New Jersey heat waves are lasting all summer!!!
Not that I'm complaining because the winters are way worse!!! Or maybe I'm just getting older.
Anyway, has anyone dealt with this issue before? I would appreciate all the help I could get. Its an interesting problem that I'm sure some of
you more knowledgeable car guys have solved before. Looking forward to your replies.

Hey GR,
Thanks for the reply. I'm new to trying to diagnose and fix car problems.
Is the compressor clutch plug on the compressor?
Also, are you referring to a compressor module? If so where would that be located.
How would it be checked after removal?
What would that tell me?
Did the draw on the circuit cause the compressor to fail?
Interesting stuff, its fun trying to run down the problem like a detective.
Again, thanks for your help.
