I tried installing the VCM disabler and believe I might have damaged the original cable. How do I fix this problem with the cable? Should I replace it?

Is it safe to drive basically without that cable not plugged in because it isn't reading it.

Unplug it and lets see the wiring. Looks fine in the video.

 

Are you referring to the cable wrap that is cracked open. That's nothing. Tape it up if it concerns you.
