Since I just bought this 2004 Odyssey I have a question about what oil to use since the mileage is at 284,000 miles. The car was a 1 owner and he always serviced it at the Honda dealer. I would like to know what your thoughts are on using synthetics and using a thicker-weight oil.
I also own a 1985 Volvo 244 Turbo that I have service myself for 22 years that has 287,000 on it.

 

if the engine does not blow out blue smoke, honda ismore likly using 5w-20. Mobile 1. synthetics should be ok. i have an 07 Fit using 5w-20 syn. at 295k miles.

 

That's good to know I guess if you keep up on the correct maintenance your engine should last a long time.
