2019 Pilot Brake Fluid

Is it really necessary to replace brake fluid at ~45,000 miles? Or is this dealer added profit. I've never changed fluid before, and never had a problem.

welcome to the forum. If the vehicle warranty if over, 3yrs or 36k miles, You do not have to have the dealer do anything, Jiffy lube, Valvoline, any oil change place you trust can do the service. Fluid is changed to keep it clean in the event you are a super heavy brake person. Then it turns brownish or burns a bit and dissipate. Just add fluid after a brake change. .
tes.

The recommendation is to change the brake fluid.
It is not mandatory. But, would inspect the brake fluid to make sure it is in good condition.
Old brake fluid tends to absorb water and turn brownish
When the water in the brake fluid boils due to heat generated by the brakes, it can make braking more difficult.
Also water can cause corrosion of the wheel cylinders or brake calipers and eventually cause a leak.
