Honda Pilot 2004 Keyless Entry system
Hi
I see conflicting information for the Honda Pilot 2004 keyless entry system. I want to confirm before taking up the task.
I have a Honda Pilot 2004 LX (not Ex). My door lock cylinders have problems. I do not have keyless entry or remote for this car. I only used keys to open the door and start the car. I am interested in installing the "Honda" keyless entry system. I don't need a keyless engine start or alarm or anything fancy. Just want to lock and unlock the door using the remote. that's all. My keys work on ignition fine.
I see 2 answers for the keyless topic on Internet.
1) behind the glove box there is a Honda Keyless entry receiver (part number - 38385-S9V-A01). And the remote (part 08E61-S01-100 ). It's easy to plug the receiver unit behind the glove box and program the Remote (easy too). I can do this.
2) In another post, There seems to be some kind of Honda keyless entry control unit under the dashboard (below the steering wheel), which involves a bunch of work. I probably won't do this since I don't have the tools, or experience, or just plain risky. This one confused me since I wasn't sure why this is needed for keyless entry?
What is actually needed for my requirement? Maybe there is a difference between the LX and EX models on this? Lock smith is very expensive in California. I just wanted to try first if it's simple and then go to a locksmith or repair shop. There is another option: buy a "universal" remote/keyless system from amazon or somewhere and tap into lock/unlock wires from the passenger side multiplex control unit. I would prefer the first option (receiver behind the glove box) if that is correct.
Can you please advise?
Thank you
Ganesan
