VTM oil change

Just picked up our new 2021 EX-L pilot. Have a question. When should the VTM oil be changed? I checked the maintenance and 30,000 to 60,000. A mechanic said 12,000 because it has break in oil in the VMT. I never heard of this break in oil.

Is this guy telling me facts ?? Break in VTM oil ? He’s the Admin. —- mechanic.

Have heard of engine oil needing to be changed after the break in period.
This is to clean out anything that may have been dislodged during the break in period.
Is it necessary, no but it is much better to do so.
Is it a huge cost, no but still better to do the oil change as it will give the engine a better chance at a longer life
So, does the VTM fluid need to be changed. No, but, if you intend on keeping your vehicle for a very long time???
Does the warranty require this maintenance be done to keep the warranty in effect?
Ask the dealership.

welcome to the forum. only suggestion i have is if you have a Honda Warranty 3 year, 36k miles or more, do as the Honda Maintenance list in the owners hand books states. after warranty is out, you can do as you wish.
