98 "si" idle issue

we have a 98 "si" with a 22va, when it warms up it will stall at idle all the time. local shop couldnt figure it out. dealr (autofair in manchester nh) said it was a "recall" item and bring it in. changed ignition switch and told my wife it needed a bunch of things it didnt need . still stalls at idle . a friend "cleared" the code light and it ran good for a few hours ,then back to the same. any thoughts? rob

Changing the air filter may help....complete combustion is probably not taking place cos not enough air is getting into it....If idle speed rpm is lower than it should be...you might want to try making it higher...

What codes did it throw, you may want to clean the throttle body to start and check o2 sensors.

stalling

I just had a similar problem my car at start up (cold) it would run for about 3 secs and cut off after 7 x it would run and the rpms would go up and down for a while before going to normal I had the car in the shop and they said they replaced a main relay located under the dash. I dont know exactly what relay they were speaking of but there is a relay that when broken it will give you a no start situation. So I guess one thats on its way out could give you stalls as well. hope this helps you.
