Default Key replacement

I bought a 2012 Ridgeline used. It only came with one key. Do I have to buy a key from the dealer or can I buy a blank online and have it copied?

The key definitely has to be programmed to be accepted by your vehicle. Some locksmiths can do it.. some avoid it. Its about 130.00 in my area to have a NEW Honda Key bought/Programmed at the dealership.

hope that helps.

BTW; a lot of people buy keys on the internet and bring them to the dealer I work with to have them cut.. (its a 9000.00 key machine) but WE dont cut aftermarket chinese keys because the metal in the blades is different and it destroys our key cutting bits.

So just check before buying one of the ebay keys if you can have it cut in your area.
