Angry Keyfob Opening Windows and Sunroof

Several times I have found my Ridgeline with all four windows down about halfway and the sunroof open. This has happened while I was in my office or in my home when the Ridgeline was within range of the keyfob. Apparently, pressing the middle unlock button on the keyfob then releasing it and then pressing it and holding it down for about 10 seconds causes the windows and sunroof to open. Every time this happened I was carrying my key fob in the small watch pocket of my jeans. Apparently, the button pressing sequence described above happened while my keyfob was in that pocket (wrinkle in the fabric...?). I read through the manual and reviewed the settings for the truck and cannot find a way to turn this function off. I don't see a need to roll down my windows and open my sunroof but I do see a need to not have this happen unknown to me when it is raining. That situation happened twice and, fortunately, it was a light rain and I happened to go to my truck and see the windows and sunroof before the situation got worse.

Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated.

I am having the exact same problem, the first time it happened was during the night and I found it the next morning after a very light rain so I went to my Honda dealer to let them know and there was another couple there with another Honda vehicle and having the same problem, the Honda Dealership said that was a feature of on their vehicle but there is a certain procedure to activate it and said they really needed to watch where they carried their key fob and then they said the same thing to me and proceeded to demonstrate how it works. I then decided to separate the keys from the key bob and started carrying my keys in my pants pocket and put the key fob either in my shirt pocket or my coat pocket. Well then last night with it putting down a steady rain, my keys were in my pants pocket and my key fob was in my coat pocket hanging up and my wife had her keys laying on the dinning room table, when she went out this morning to walk our dog she found my 2019 Ridgeline RTL-E sitting in the driveway with all windows halfway down and the sunroof open and the inside soaked, I was in bed sick with a fever but we then spent 6+ hours moping up water, dash console, floors etc. (front leather seats were soaked) and drying it out as best we could. I plan to talk with them again tomorrow about this and I really hope they can fix it, I do like my Ridgeline.

"Apparently, pressing the middle unlock button on the keyfob then releasing it and then pressing it and holding it down for about 10 seconds causes the windows and sunroof to open. "

This is the exact procedure to open all windows with the fob as described in the manual.
Unfortunately, there is no description on how to disable it.

Sorry to read that the same "feature" of the keyfob caused you to expereince exactly what I'm trying to avoid.

I found that entry in the manual describing how to roll the windows down using the fob and also found no information on how to disable it, which is what I was hoping for.

I usually carry the keyfob in the little watch pocket of my jeans. I never carry it with anything else in the same pocket. So, I guess just a simple fold of fabric is enough to press the button as described in the manual and cause the windows to open. I find that Amazon offers many keyfob covers. Most of these appear to be leather or soft plastic so I'm not sure if that would be enough to prevent this situation from occuring.

Good morning and thanks for following up with me everyone. My wife looked in my manual for the correct procedure while I was cleaning up the Ridgeline but she could not find it. I called my Honda Dealer and talked with my service writer and she said as far as she knows there is no way to turn it off but, she will look into it and call me back. BTW, this feature was not mentioned to me or the problems with it but they were really busy that day and they have been top notch so far and I’m sure they will figure something out. I was thinking about this more last night and apparently Honda has known about this for some time and wondered if they could add a simple “flip up” hard cover over the top of the key fob where the buttons are located which I think would solve the issue and I know it would make me a happy camper, the more I drive my Ridgeline the better I like it. All The Best !

I guess this feature was intended to as a means to ventilate hot air from the interior prior to getting in. But, I'm surprised that the potential for soaking the interior, as happened to Crockett, was not obvious to the designers.

I do not like hanging that expensive fob off a belt loop because I almost lost it one day when a belt loop separated from my jeans. I guess I can ask my daughter or wife to reinforce that right-hald belt loop on all my pants.

I'll also keep researching covers for the fob.

Default Car windows, sunroof opening b y themselves

This is a club within the Forum that I wish I had not been forced to join. My 2017 Hatch has done this to me three times. On the first two occasions-- one after a 6-inch snowfall and one after a downpour -- I was forced to admit the possibility that my wife was right: that I am a careless idiot and fool. Yet, inwardly, I felt almost sure I had closed the car before exiting on both occasions.
Today, on the recent, third such event, I knew the car had been closed, though the fob was in my pocket. So I checked this forum and learned that I'm not a careless idiot-- at least in this instance.
I can control the location of the fob while I'm in my house; however, since this robot attack can happen while I'm out and about, I hope Honda will supply-- ideally free, if they are honorable -- an effective case for the fob.
The front passenger window of my car started refusing to go all the way up, lowering itself when it gets within 3 inches of closing. It does finally "obey," however, after three or four tries. I guess I can take that up on another thread.
