Default What would cause my starter relay switch to get hot enough to melt

Was riding it the the other day and all of sudden the bike just shut off on me I noticed the fuel pump wasn’t kicking on when I tried to restart it I kinda gave it a little tap and it started back up only to die again no more than 1000feet later once I parked I looked under the seat and noticed the 30 amp fuse in the relay switch was melted along with biggest part of the switch any one might have an idea the culprit all comments appreciated

Sometimes the contacts on the relay build up resistance either by corrosion or electrical sparking
This resistance can cause heat to build up to the point of melting the contacts
This is one possible reason.
