Default '07 CR-V Wheel Bearings Bad....Too Soon ?

My '07 CR-V has 135K miles on it, and the front wheel bearings are shot and being replaced today. I was surprised that they only lasted 135K miles, but I don't know what the expected life span of wheel bearings are. Does 8 years/135K miles seem normal or premature ?

sounds a little short on life. have you driven this vehicle in deep water or live near the ocean, or park near the curb where the water was above the axle line?

I live about 10 miles from the Atlantic Ocean in Central Florida. The car has always been garaged overnight except when traveling , never has gone through or been exposed to deep water, nor has it seen snow or any significant winter road travel.
