Default 120k brake/suspension refresh - war stories?

Original owner of an 05 CRV-EX at 120K miles and still running perfectly, squeaky clean inside. It's been my daily driver for years. Giving to my daughter now that she is driving and looking the car over the rear suspension is rusty and I will feel better replacing.
Planning on rebuilt brake/calipers all around, all rear suspension components, address exhaust, underside rust and feel good about it being safe.
I figure 1K in parts to address all issues I can find.

Any additional parts I may not be thinking of that are wear/rust items?
Any warnings/hints/suggestions?
Would you
1. forget that flimsy exhaust heat shield
2. replace ($80?)
3. replace and powdercoat

I'm gonna try to do this in a day since we always need the car so I really want to plan ahead, the rust will take the longest I figure

thanks for any thoughts

bushings would most likely need replacement upper mounts and bearings also don't buy cheap parts like Meineke or Monroe.

Thanks lowlife9. I would leave rusty stock parts on rather than replace with cheap but that's always good advice.
