My wife just had an AC relay replaced at a Honda Dealership. The AC was working fine, except it wouldn't come on for like 20 minutes. Its all fixed now. The dealership told her she'd need a new compressor. Is that bogus or what?

 

welcome to the forum. possible clutch on the compressor is failing. seems to be a weak spot on the crv

 

Thanks. Great to be here. I think that the tech was just trying to up-sell her. I'm all for preventive maintenance, but the system works great when its on, and now that the relay is fixed, its working great. I think before she pours $1K into a 2009 for a new compressor, she's just going to get a newer used CRV. Sometimes I tackle these repairs myself with used parts from salvage and an afternoon to kill, but this looks WAY over my head.

 

salvage yard is like the candy store for me..cant get enough of it.
