welcome to the forum, normally a 3% tire difference from stock is not critical. a 235/60/18 is -3.1% difference smaller tire. a 235/55/18 is a -9.2% smaller than stock. they look good, but milage and handling change quite a bit. your speed o meter will read faster,

So I would be better with the 235/60/18 than the 235/55/18 size.
What do you mean by the milage will change quite a bit and by how much, I have Michelin tours fitted and they seen to be wearing down quite fast.

Thanks Steve

when you change from a stock tire 235/65/18 which is giving you your current speed of 65 mph (example) and you change to 235/55/18 will show 70 mph. smaller tire also less traction. you can put the shorter tire on but will also advise you to get the speed o meter calculated correctly,, or put the car on a diagnostic roller to get actual miles, or drive to not pass everyone on the road. 235/60/18 your milage change is minor in change. when you say your tire is wearing down quite fast, do you purchase 40k mile tires or 60k mile tire.and get less milage than what you paid for?

The stock tyre size is 225/60/18 I thought the Michelin tires would be OK but I don't think I will get near the 40k do you recommend any others for the crv.

The first number is for the width of the tire in millimeters
The second number is a ratio of the width and height of the side wall
60 would mean the height of the side wall is 60% of the width
The last is the size of the rim it will fit upon

If using the same rim as stock tires would use ...
225 versus 235 means the tire is a little wider
But, should still fit on the rim
However, if the tire comes off then it will be upon you for choosing to put those size tires on your rims

most tires sold by America's Tires or Discount Tires are good . the more milage you want, the more you pay. you dont want to purchase tires that you will not drive enough miles that they will start to dry crack due to age. most tires are good for about 3 years.
