2013 Honda CR-V - No Oil Change for a Year
Hello,
I live in Minnesota, and have a 2013 Honda CR-V Ex (with a little over 50k miles), which I rarely drive it anymore due to the pandemic. It took me three months to go through a tank of gas. The issue is I haven't gotten my oil changed since before the pandemic - the oil quality indicator still shows 80-90%, but after reading too much via google, I guess that's not a good thing.
I made an appointment to get it changed the Saturday after next. My question is - have I screwed over my car with waiting so long, or can i trust the oil quality indicator? It runs fine when I drive it.
Thank you for your time.

welcome to the forum. you have not screwed your car, it is in good shape. if you do not tell the dealership that the last oil change was over a year ago, they would tell you to go home and wait until you hit 20%. but it is a good idea to change the oil once a year or per oil life limit. Oil does not loose its lubricating property. i have seen a 90 series accord with 400+k miles. the car was still running (not well) but running. the tow yard took the valve cover off and found almost every drain hole almost closed up. found out from the owner that the oil was never changed, just added as needed. according to honda training, (2002) oil does not have to be changed for 11,000+ miles, but that is quite long.
