Default 2015 CR-V touchscreen error message

There is a glitch with the infotainment system and settings interface on our 2015 Honda CR-V, EXL w/o navigation. After a minute or so the Honda insignia and HondaLink image goes away and is replaced by “i Software Update” in the upper left of the screen and “There was a problem reading the CD-ROM Devise. Please switch off vehicle to restart and retry.” In a dialog box in mid-screen. Consequently, the infotainment system doesn’t work, the phone system doesn’t work and I can’t even get into settings to set the clock. I’ve done a hard boot and pressed all combinations of buttons and nothing changes. The back-up camera works, but without the lane lines or view option. Even the compass is stuck on “N”. The computer software was recently updated and there are no obvious problems showing up on a diagnostic computer. We live on a remote island and the car has less than 20,000 miles.

Is this something that anyone has encountered before? The nearest dealership is 16 hours round trip and $600 away. I could not find a service bulletin on this problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
