Default 2018 CRV radio problems

June, 2018 purchased new 2018 CRV. Only 8,000 miles in last year. Radio / Screen randomly goes black, "Brightness" scale flashes on & off, loud "beep" from radio. Volume / On-Off button does nothing. Will eventually come back on. Have done the radio re-set several times. Contacted dealer who advised this is a known problem however Honda has not come up with a fix yet. Was told to call back every month or so to ask if a solution has been found. Dealer has always been great with my other vehicle purchases. Looks like the dealers hands are tied by Honda. Can Honda actually continue to ignore these problems while continuing to sell the same problem to new unsuspecting owners?

welcome to the forum. Honda is probably working on the software, until they come up with a hard fix, continue to document what is going on and make sure the dealership has this complaint in writing on work orders. You might also call American Honda to get them on the roll for a fix. when a lot of complaints for this comes in to Honda, they will push harder to get it fixed, also if sales drop this gets them in hi gear for a fix.

Thanks for the info. From the checking I've done on-line, it looks like there's already been a class-action suit filed on this same problem. The dealer used to just replace the full radio / info unit, however even the replacements were defective as well. The dealer has a letter from Honda he shows everyone coming in with this problem telling the dealer that Honda is aware of the problem, they are not to replace the radio units, and advise the customer they are working on a fix. Almost two years and still "working on a fix"? And I see now that even the 2019 CRV's are having the same problem. Frustrating to spend so much on a new vehicle only to have to accept a defective radio / console and be told "too bad".
