Default Affix wheel well trim with cable ties

(2021 CR-V Hybrid Touring)
Passing a suggestion along that might prove handy for someone.

We had a low speed impact with a tree that displaced but didn't really damage the front bumper other than some small breaks in the chrome.. Fortunately, everything was easy enough to push back in place, except the black plastic trim around the wheel well. Its attachment point toward the front of the car had sheared. But no obvious reason to have the dealer repair/replace anything.

I tried duct tape to keep the trim in place as a temporary measure, but that failed miserably. Although the plastic piece initially was almost aligned in place, the wind from driving pulled it away from the car like a broken wing on a bird.

The "right" way would have been to buy new trim and figure out how to install it. Maybe that would have been easy.

I was about to start figuring that out when I realized a solution that seems to be working well for the past few weeks. I bought a set of black 8" cable ties (UV resistant, "Steel Grip" from Ace Hardware) to fit through the trim (new hole) and through some existing holes in the wheel well, near the original attachment point. I took a small drill and cut a slot (two adjacent holes) in the trim just big enough to get the cable tie through and fed the end of the it through the slot. Using some small needle nose pliers I grabbed the end of the cable tie and pulled it through the small holes in the wheel well. When I pulled it tight, I positioned the head of the cable tie so it was over the hole in the wheel well.

Because the trim had bent enough from the wind, I found a second place where I could secure the trim in the same way. The trim fits tightly and the ties match the black trim perfectly. You wouldn't notice either of the cable ties without looking closely.
