Buying Tires for Gen 3
Which set of 4 new tires should I buy for my 2009 CR-V in Louisville, KY, USA. My independent mechanic, who has worked on my cars for the past 30 years. suggested General Tires because he has had great success with Generals, and it saves a few bucks over buying Michelins. He used to buy only Michelins, but is now a huge fan of General Tires. My driving is 50% highway (interstates) and 50% city. The tires on it now are 225/65R17. I drive this CR-V about 8,000-10,000 miles each year.

Just my thoughts on the subject of shoes:
You can get subjective brand opinions from your friends, the internet, or you can go to reliable sources like Consumer Reports or reputable sources like Tire Rack.
The core of a good answer is not just a brand (advertising). It is all about getting the correct tire for your type of driving, your location and the roads you drive on. Soooo, Northern KY does not get deep snow but does get ice and rain. The main roads (I-65 and the beltways) are concrete with noisy expansion joints and a fairly rough surface. I would look for a tire that has high wet traction ratings, deep sipes and a quiet and comfortable ride along with confident handling characteristics.
Don’t forget to check the manufacture dates for “freshness”.
YMMV
