Default Dangerous full throttle behaviour

2002 Honda CRV automatic suddenly would not decelerate while driving. Managed to put into neutral and pull over. Starting sends engine immediately into high speed as though pedal to floor. Engine scan at Canadian tire shows throttle assembly needs replacing. This is a $1200 part. Any potential to repair throttle assembly, or other possible cause of issue and remedy?

Thanks!

My guesses......throttle position sensor and/or crankshaft position sensor.

thanks for the insight. Looks like a new part would be the best.

Go to a salvage yard to get the part if you can. You'll save at least $1k over that first estimate.
