Default Disappointing MPG

Well, filled my car today after 279 miles of 100% city driving and almost all short hops. The optimismeter on the dash said 28.2mpg which I was quite happy with. Fuelly and pen/paper both said 26.8mpg which is a little disappointing. I didn't expect the optimismeter to be spot on but I didn't expect it to be that optimistic either. Oh well. It is what it is.

No problem. If it was that poor on a hybrid I don't know what I'd do. Probably scream.
