Default Irregular firing

I have recently purchased a s/h Honda CR-V 2.2 diesel manual. Mileage now about 8000, registered October 2007. Basically I'm very happy with the car, good to drive, returning around 44mpg overall. My driving is mostly rural and on motorways, max. speed 70 mph using cruise control. I drive it fairly gently, no longer a boy racer. Have noticed over the past 1000 miles that the engine feels a bit rough between 1200-2000 rpm as if it is not firing correctly. This seems to be intermittent though I haven't been able to identify a specific set of conditions where it happens most of all. I didn't notice this when I biught the car at end January this year at about 6000 miles. I haven't had a diesel before and wonder whether my driving style might be causing this. Any suggestions please.

Gary.

This is normal I have the same experience, sounds like rapid gunfire.

What you are hearing is the exhaust gas been recycled through the emission exhaust / inlet manifold value.

Check you have the revised valve fitted as there is a factory recall which is a free upgrade.

It happens alot less now on my CRV.
