Default Just bought a '97 AWD auto CR-V

I got it from my son, it has a cold start problem and I did a little test by turning the ign on and off 5-6 times
and it seemed to help with the cold start. Is this indicative of the fuel pump check valve being bad on this model?
The car runs great otherwise, just a little low on power. lol Anything else I should look for on this as far as the hard
start condition? It has ~230K miles on it.

It looks like a lot of miles but Honda's are tough so if you can drive it properly it is okay

Everything on it is nearly perfect. No leaks does not burn any oil even with synthetic oil.
I'd just like to get the rough running hard cold start issue dealt with. The interior is like new.
I think my son was the 2nd owner. Pd $1500.00 for it.

welcome to the forum.. cr-v cold start problem. check the battery for a load test to see if any cells are weak, check for corroded connections to ground, check to see if tune up is current, use of proper oil 5w20, check compression for low value. also check fuel pressure at the fuel rail with key on prior to start.

Hard starts sometimes indicate the need for maintenance.
Take the spark plugs out and inspect the gap
Are they in good condition?
Did the gap open up?
Check fuel pressure?
Use a bottle or two of fuel injector cleaner?
Clean the throttle?
Replace the PCV? Not purge valve
Change the oil?
Check the boots for spark trails? Means the spark did not go to plugs due to larger gap, burns boot
Good luck

It pops right off when it's hot, only runs rough/ slow start when it's cold. The front wheel bearings are also
making a little noise. I am going to have to watch a video to see if I want to tackle that job.

All of the maintenance has been done this is a well kept cr-v.

Was $1500.00 a fair price for a nice auto awd '97? I may decide to resell it.

Thank you for all of the replies.

I was thinking so. I guess I'll fixer up and hold on to it. It won't lose any more value unless I wreck it. lol

thank you.

The check engine light code was 0118 temp sensor, does this vehicle only have one temp sensor? They are cheap enough
I am going to throw a part at the problem and see if it corrects the hard start issue.
