Question Loud intake noise when accelerating

My wife has a 2014 Honda CR-V. She took it to a shop for oil change, alignment. They changed the air filter. I'm not 100% on what all they did. Since, on acceleration and lower gear, it makes a deep, loud sound as if air is exposed where it shouldn't be. Accelerating at higher gear it is not noticible. I checked to make sure an air filter was in it and it was, a new one. I am assuming it is intake. Hoping to get advice before finding a new shop, since based on this and one other incident I do not like that shop any more.

Ty

welcome to the forum did the shop put in a K&N type of performance intake filter. this allows more are and will cause a louder sound on acceleration. check your bill and see if the filter cost was a bit on the high side. about 50.00 for part only.

Ty for the reply. I took the air filter out and here is the only information as far as any writing to be found on it:

"STP 17MVJ1284 Made in China SA11258"

This is on one side. Googling, "STP 17MVJ1284" turned up nothing. Googling, "STP SA11258" did hit. Here is the air filter at AutoZone, where it is labeled a, "High efficiency air filter:"

STP Air Filter SA11258 - Read Reviews on STP #SA11258

So, it is as simple as the type of air filter they put in?

Seems unlikely to me that a paper filter is going to be that different from the stock paper. I installed a K&N oiled media filter in my '15 CRV, and while there is a small increase in intake noise under heavy acceleration, I doubt this would be your cause. My money is on a loose connection at the airbox somewhere.

I have a high intake filter in my 2000 Accord and the noise level is very different.

Different filters have different air flow rates.. The newer Honda Filters are "high Flow" filters with special media. Id replace it with a Genuine Honda Part like it came with and the noise will prob go away.

hope that helps
