Map Update
For all those interested, Garmin recently released the 2024 update for the onboard navigation. The new version is 2024.20.
Unfortunately, after updating garmin express and re-registering the Navigator, Garmin still will not send the updated maps. They are still showing the 2023 maps as the current version. I will try to contact Garmin support as soon as get a chance… TOBECON
… The latest from Garmin (Amber):
Only the Gemini system update is available. The Bean system, which is what is in the CRV (not 100% sure that is true across all model/years that are equipped with Garmin) is not available. Amber seems to think it will be available soon but could be as late as February ‘24. Soooo more TOBECON

Garmin Map Update - Not
Just checked on the Garmin/Honda site and it reads that the current update is 2024 however it did not give a version number. So I performed the update and once again it came back that my 2023 version is the current version.
Since there are no error messages I must assume that the Bean update has not yet been made available. From garmin blogs it appears that we are the proverbial redheaded stepchild of the garmin map world as everybody else has the new version.
One thing is certain. I will not be paying for a garmin update when my 3 year freebie period ends. With carplay I can use any of my phone base navigation apps.
Anyway, I will check again on 2/15/24 and report back… TOBECON

The Garmin Navigation “Bean” update is now available for your downloading pleasure. This version is listed as 2024.0.
Takes about 2 hours to download on a 5 MB/s wifi connection.
Good Luck

Honda E-Mail
I received an e-mail notice from Honda last night (5/15/24) stating that there is new update for our Navigation System.
That claim is FALSE. The last update was on or about Feb 7th and version 2024 is still the current version as verified with Garmin.
I blocked the garbage e-mail address and sent customer support an appropriate nastygram.

Just got a 2015/16 CRV, and I sorely wish the car had Android Auto installed, as I prefer the current data of Google Maps or Waze, but I'll make do with mounting my phone on a mount and using it separately for now.
However I would sometimes consider using the builtin map, and wanted to check how out of date it was, and how much a one-off update would cost.
Installed map shows as "Full coverage of Europe 2021.0".
Checked Garmin Express for available maps and it shows "City Navigator Europe NTU 2023, Honda BEANs 1.0 Map Update" is available, which sounded rather old.
So I came here to check when a "2024" update might be released, but from the comments here it sounds like the "BEAN" update might be the current one.
Could anyone clarify for a newbie? Can we expect another update in the next few months? If so, I'll hold off the purchase until that point!
Thanks in advance, folks.

You have the 1st attempt at Honda’s effort to incorporate navigation into the CRV. It worked so well that Honda no longer uses it. I believe your local descriptor for it is rubbish.
The current version for Garmin Europe is 2025.10 which came out on Feb. 28, 2024. It used to be that updates were released around October however Garmins priority for updates for automotive applications appears to be last, if at all.
The Garmin NA version is no exception as I previously related.
The only way for you to uncover what is available for your now outdated unit is via Garmin Express. It will also give you the cost as you cannot download it without paying in advance.
I suggest you not waste your £’s on Garmin Bean and stick with Waze.
My ‘22 has the latest version only because the update is free however since I have Apple Car Play I use Apple maps in lieu of Garmin anyway.
Cheers
