Default New '24 Hybrid: Whining noise coming from battery area sometimes

I have a video of the noise here https://streamable.com/jv3wkq You need to turn the volume up to hear it because it is hard to capture on the phone. It's a whining/high pitch type of noise. It does not always make the sound, but I almost always hear it after driving for several minutes and going over 40MPH. It seems to get louder when going faster, and is very noticeable on the highway. The sounds seems to be coming from below the cargo area in the rear where the battery is. I can hear it from the drivers seat when driving and I don't believe it's normal.

Default Squeak

Could barely hear an intermittent squeak like sound over the background noise which sounded like the ICE running.

Do you hear the same noise if the vehicle is in EV mode?
Wondering because if you had just driven it (warm engine) and parked to record noise, why would the ICE be running?

In either case, I have no clue what could be creating that sound. Maybe the squirrels are hungry.

Bottom line: New 2024 + Warranty = Dealer

Good luck and please let us know if you find resolution.

My wife captured the video while I was driving. She was in the cargo area. I couldn't tell where the noise was coming from, so I asked her to sit in the backseat and find the noise. Then, she found that it seemed to be coming from under the cargo area in the back (where the battery/battery fan is), so she hopped in the back and we drove on a backroad to capture the noise. I assume it's the battery fan, but who knows. I have an appointment with a Honda dealer on Monday.

I took it to the dealer today, and they test drove it for 20+ min to reproduce the sound, and they said it sounded typical for a hybrid lol. So I guess that is that..

It is quite an annoying noise and I'd be curious if someone else can record if their vehicle makes a similar noise.

That noise could be the battery cooling fan? As you use the vehicle the battery will get hot. Coolant is pump thru the Hybrid battery. Fan cools the coolant. If it bothers you then have the dealership look at it.

Note: Sorry, The battery is air cooled.

I just did today. They said that it sounded normal to them. So, I guess I'll have to take their word for it since I can't really drive another CRV hybrid for 30 min lol.

I have the same issue. It only happens above 40 mph and only when temperature is warm outside (above 70 degrees). And it is highest when I drive on the highway. It is annoying!
same thing happened to me where the dealer said it is normal. I guess they are right since the battery must be cooled down with that fan! I found the opening for the fan is right under the passenger side back seat.
