Odd '98 shifting transmission?
1998 CR-V 170k miles
My new-to-me '98 CR-V up-shifts beautifully, but I have a question about one condition.
If I have decelerated from 30mph or so to about 20mph (that happens a LOT here because we have "round-about" traffic circles everywhere on our roads), and then re-accelerate (even extremely light acceleration barely touching the gas pedal), the transmission first shifts down one gear with a bit of a jerk, then at about 2500rpm in that lower gear, shifts back up.
My other vehicles either do the downshift thing as I slow to that 20mph speed (so when I re-accelerate I am already in the lower gear), or stay in the higher gear for re-acceleration as long as I maintain very little throttle.
The little downshift as I apply throttle is very annoying, but if that's the way they are programmed, I guess I can live with it. I just would prefer that it isn't a symptom of pending transmission problems.
Anyone?
