Default what would you do?

I have a 2004 Honda Crv with 134000 miles. The ac compressor died and needs to be replaced. We where only planning on keeping the car for another year. We have been quoted between 1000 to 1200 to replace the compressor. What do you all think?

thanks

Jerryt

if I plan to keep the cr-v, then I would replace the a/c parts needed. if no keep, and don't mind selling at a lower price, no fix. put money into newer transportation car.

You might first get other estimates,I had the compressor go out in a former Vette and they wanted about $1200 to replace it,I went to two other shops and got different prices,I finally settled on a shop that put in a reman part for almost half the cost.

As you know compressors are not cheap. I think it depends on how much you use the AC. I live in AZ so living without AC isn't really an option but if you live in a mild climate than forgoing the AC for a while probably won't be an issue.

You might also think about salvage yards.

Yes, exactly if you plan on selling it soon anyway, I wouldn't bother with fixing it and time put. I would start thinking what to buy next, well I'm kind of similar spot at the moment as I'm about to get a lease deal at DSRLeasing too and posted my car on sell now.

If you're planning on keeping the vehicle.. Id just buy one of the A/c kits online or go to Ranshu Inc. Automotive Air Conditioning Parts and Accessories Thats about as cheap as you will find those parts in the aftermarket anywhere.

Hope that helps!
