Default Why wiper arm doesn't go all the way down?

I have a 2024 Honda CRV EX-L. I noticed that the windshield wiper arm doesn't go all the way down right away (see video here) - it stops almost at the end and then pushes again to complete the movement. What could be the problem?

sorry, what transmission has to do with it? Just to be clear, same happens while driving. And, I can hear from inside the car that the wiper goes not entirely down and I can see it visually to not go all the way down, and then it gives another push to bring the wiper all the way down as shown in the video.

The wipers have a transmission and yours may have a problem. Take a look at it.

This indeed only happens in "intermittent" mode. In "NON-intermittent' mode the wiper don't go all the way down too - they go to the same "almost-down" position and immediatly go up again. But in "intermittent" mode they go to the "almost-down" position and then another push to "completly-down" position. I wonder why it doesn't go all the way down in any case? It doesn't seem to be an issue with transmission, but probably design?

Is the motor is having a problem? Maybe. If they will not park right it's usually the motor.

I checked other same new models and they all have such behaviour. So, it's a design thing. But, I don't understand why.

I tried to explain the “why” in response to your first post. After rereading it and in full consideration of your previous posts and responses I felt that my response was too complicated for the target audience so I deleted it.

It appears you read it prior to deletion and your subsequent response(s) fully supported my reason for deleting my post.

However, I will attempt to explain it in much more basic terms so that you may understand the mechanics.

Modern wipers use relay modules and timers to operate the cycles. They control the interval, speed and cycle. The motor turns in one direction only. It is the transmission that delivers the motion to the wiper blades. Since the drive gear is round it must cycle fully for each revolution. The park position is achieved only at the 360* position. That is where the controller module stops the cycle and the motor is off. In intermittent mode, the motor does not advance to the off position because the timer is running. When the time interval is attained, the controller continues the cycle. Since the gear never completely finish one revolution, it must now do so in order for the transmission to reverse the travel of the arms. That is why the blades continue to park before the next revolution can begin.

So in summary, in intermittent mode the wipers are not off so they do not park.

Hope I splained it more better this time.
