Speedometer???

Default Speedometer???

Hey im new to the site and i just bought a 92 Civic DX 4-door, i have one question my speedometer works only about 25% of the time do you have any suggestions on what it might be???

Possible speed sensor at the transmission

Makes you wonder how many actual miles are on the Odmeter huh? Maybe 75% more than what it shows?

I'd be more worried about the cop catching me doing 85 mph then actual miles. At least he is trying to fix it

Replace the sppedometer cable and see if that was or is the cause..and also the speed sensor as Acmech52 is suggesting you check...

follow the speed sensor wire and check if it's loose if its then just push it back in. thats what i did to my civic

My 05 Civic DX VP occasionally appears to lose power just in the speedometer gauge. I am not sure if the odometer part of it loses power or not, but the needle drops from 65 to 40, or something like that, and then goes back up. I'm not too worried about it because the speed readings feel right but ... it's kinda odd, don't you think? First time I saw it I thought I was just imagining it or something, but it's happened 2x in the past month, and a couple other times earlier. Could be doing it more that I don't notice, but w/e... Check the cable, I guess?
