Default transmission issue

I have a 2002 Honda Accord 2dr coupe 4cyl with the automatic transmission....when i bought the car i knew the tranny had an issue an may need replaced...it had the typical 1st to second surge and i bought a less than fifty thousand mile tranny that came from japan.....now the tranny slams into drive and reverse after a long pause and one day while driving it locked into second or third gear...i took it to a tranny shop and they reset codes and said tranny needed replaced that i was having internal failure...if thats the case how the hell did the gear come back when they reset it....once a gear is gone its gone...right?.....so i have been looking at this car for a year now.....unable to drive it.....even after replacing tranny.....please help....i am going crazy....any ideas what it could be...it seems to me this is an electrical issue.....thought maybe selenoids.....as their are two sets....tranny shop said they swapped them.....i am tired if shops ripping me off...please help.....my number is seven four zero two five eight three nine five eight.....

the auto trans on 01-04 had sever trans issues stemming from the internal mesh filter inside the trans honda useed a to fine of a mesh which clogs over time starving the transmission of oil pressure causing the clutch packs to chew themselves to pieces and clogging the screen further. your only real option is getting another used transmission preferably from a 04 -05 which had less issues they upgraded the filter then installing a aftermarket external filter and oil cooler but even then its still vulnerable to failure. its actually a faulty part direct from the factory. another option is to rebuild the trans with a racing overhaul kit with upgraded clutch packs TCI made them but im not sure if the make the kit anymore.
