1994 civic ex coupe needs experienced help badly!
I love my car to death, but it's killing me.
I have a 1994 Honda Civic Ex Coupe that I just dida motor swap on. I had a D16Z6 motor in there and it finally threw a rod @ 232k beat-to-hell miles(stupid kid that owned it before me). So I hopped on the good dealwhile it was still running, and when it died I threw a Japanese D15B VTech motor in there. Everything went great, car started and ran great and it's good as new.
However, myTachometer doesn't work. My Cruise Controldoesn't work. And for some reason, my car has never V-Tech'd. I can hit the rev limiter just fine, but it doesn't v-tech. It didn't for the six thousand miles that I drove it on D16z6 motor and it doesn't with the new motor either. But it does, however, spit black smoke at high RPM. There is no check engine light (so since it's OBD1, will it tell me if the O2 sensor is bad?)and my Catalytic Converteris probably toast because of the car runningso rich, butthat's no reason for it to Gross Pollute (I ran a pre-test on it and it more than doubles the limits for NOx and it's over on HC and CO's).
Can anyone give me any advice before I got and spend thousands on tracing these problems out?

whoever swapped ur motor isn't too good at it and by the sounds of it he doesn't do it often for a reason... Did you even get a new ECU for that motor. You prob can't even feel vtec in that motor. You should have just junked the car at the time the motor went. It wasn't worth putting a d15 in it. Your gonna have oil coming out of the exhaust because your beating on it.Take it to a real shop who ONLY does swaps and they should be able to lok at ur ECU and see what hasn't been wired up. Your O2 sensor is prob bad. You said it is running rich. Well it prob broke so you might want to get a new one and wire it up. Then get it street tuned.
