Default 1994 honda accord ex transmission problem

Hi everyone I need some help I have a 1994 honda accord ex auto

I replaced the engine a couple of weeks ago and have noticed my rpms have been getting high they are sometimes up to about 2k well the other day I was driving on hwy I had to accelerate alot to get the car to move forward coming off the hwy the vehicle would go forward in any gear

after giving it a lot of acceleration I finally got it home while it was parked I tried to shift in the different gears and none of them would engage.

I have noticed that the rpms are very high at about 2k

Does anyone know what this might be or does it mean that the trans need to be replaced.

Sounds like the trans is slipping.

The first thing I would check is the transmission fluid level. It's very common for a transmission to slip if the transmission fluid is hot and low. You need to check the trans fluid when it hot and the engine is off, sitting on level ground. If the trans fluid is to high, it will also cause some funky shifting problems. You can check out an article I wrote about #1 Reason for a slipping transmission for more details, I think the videos will help as well http://eddiecarrara.hubpages.com/hub...g-transmission
