the dealer changes the oil.
the dipstick has 2 holes. the top one is supposed to be the max.

whenever we check it, the oils is always over that amount.
we check in the morning before use.

are they putting in too much oil?

no, when honda does your oil change, they put in enough oil to compensate for the oil filter, run the engine and then recheck the oil level. If you run your engine first, then check your oil, it should be at the top hole.

after a short run and providing the engine is not burning oil, it should be at the top hole. (Just for info, My o7 Fit from the time I purchased it, at 60% oil life, i add a quart, at 30% oil life I add a quart of oil. currently it has 250k miles and runs good.)

 

we have never added oil to our 97 Honda in 17 years. it is low mileage.
the oil is always beyond the top hole.
