Unhappy 2005 CRV Troubles

Recently transplanted a Motor and Transmission from a 2006 CRV into my 2005. Have it up and running but seem to have trouble "finding"reverse gear with shifter. Can sometimes get reverse from under the car by wiggling the input shaft into tranny by hand. HELP PLEASE!

have you tried to make any adjustments to your stick adjustment, may not be quite the same shift pattern as the old trans.

Angry 2005 CRV Troubles

D-3-2-1 to Reverse is fine. Park to reverse does nothing. N to Reverse does nothing. Doesn't seem like a linkage issue to me? Going crazy here.

what brand trans fluid are you using on the transmission. also did you check to see if the finger filter is clean and also the regular trans filter before you installed it.

I used Honda tranny fluid when I filled it. Also I was told that this model had no filter by the local dealer.

Does the instrument cluster say you're in reverse when you have the problem?

The transmission is electronically controlled, so if the computer doesn't tell you you're in reverse, you might want to check the Range Position Sensor, and see if it's adjusted right or defective.

If the gauges say you're in reverse, and you get no engagement, you might be having trouble with the shift solenoids, or the transmission might have mechanical problems.

Does shifting into reverse have anything to do with Brake pressure?

on a 4 wheel disk brake, should not unless there is by pass in the master cylinder. on a rear drum you may feel a small pedal bump due to the fwd brake liner comes more into contact with the drum to keep the vehicle stopped in reverse.
