I have an opportunity to buy a 2006 Civic at a good price but I have heard about cracks in engine blocks caused by faulty castings. Does anyone know how wide spread this problem is?

 

welcome to the forum. checking the honda complaint site, there seems to be a few 06 civic cracked blocks. many have broken in a short time of ownership. might want to think this over before buying a car with a known block cracking problem. Must remember honda produced a lot of 06 civics, and the percent of broken blocks is small. need to find out if they have had recalls on this block.

 

Good point,a recall could make all the difference in buying one.
